Reading Specialist Certified in Wired For Reading®
As a Wired for Reading® Specialist, I help students overcome frustration and find fluency in reading, spelling, and writing. I use a multi-sensory approach to engage individual student strengths and fuel acquisition of essential skills. I work with families to overcome obstacles to literacy so that reading can become an avenue for lifelong learning and pleasure while writing can become a means to clear communication and self-expression.
I have been working with the Wired For Reading® curriculum since 2012. As a parent of a dyslexic child I have seen both the frustration that can result from ineffectual reading instruction and the confidence and empowerment that results from this invaluable program. I bring my compassion and my confidence for a happy outcome to my students and their families. |
Wired for Reading®
Wired for Reading® is an engaging, multi-sensory word analysis program designed to improve reading, spelling, and vocabulary. Based in the latest research, students are taught to use linguistics in a kid-friendly way to understand the deep structure of language and phonics. As they learn to connect speech to sounds, sounds to letters, and letters to meaning, English spelling patterns are demystified, and students are empowered to confidently and fluidly decode words when reading and spelling.
A Certified Wired for Reading® Specialist (CWRS) is a dedicated and skilled reading therapist that has been extensively trained in the Wired for Reading curriculum with a minimum of 90 hours of coursework and has completed a rigorous mentoring process with a minimum of 60 hours. Often educated in multiple approaches and techniques, these educators stay current with the latest research-based approaches that meet the standards of the National Reading Panel. By working closely with their students and families as a team, they will help each child change the way they process print in order to become a better reader and speller.
